I’m 22 year old female from the US of A. I love to read, travel, cook, go swimming, hiking, canoeing, and cycling. My major is History/Political Science. I graduated from Pitt and will be continuing my education in the fall in the Master’s program of Library and Information Science. The main reason for the website was to help promote studying abroad for university students. I received the Vira Heinz Study Abroad scholarship to study abroad for the summer of 2007 & chose to study at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. Now that I am back I can truly say that it changed my life and has open many doors of opportunities for me. So go study abroad – yes you – now :) or well – as soon as you can get it all figured out (it’s simple to do – really – so look into it). Now I hope to document my transition from undergraduate to graduate school and then hopefully from graduating with my master’s degree to working the 9-5 job – and all so that students can learn from my success and from my mistakes.

A little more about me:

Fly fishing and reading are my escapes. I feel strongly against sharing dessert. I think hard workers are always rewarded, just in many different ways. I never agreed with the policy to invade Iraq, but I feel we have an obligation to pick up the mess we made before we leave. Whose great idea was it for our country to become dependent on OPEC oil? “College experience”= keggers and beer pong is way overrated. You won’t “die” from one of Dr. Thomas’ test. Dependency freaks me out – I will do almost anything to keep my high level of independence the way it is. Children really do say the funniest things. I think families are undervalued today in America & that many traditional values could help us on that one. Kids need to learn the words “no,” “respect,” and “responsibility.” I fear for the people who live near the refinery and inhale all the fumes coming from that place. History is important – for those who actually pay attention to it, it teaches us what not to repeat & what works. I think it is great people are finally catching on to the whole GREEN movement. People shouldn’t be afraid to take a vacation now & then. I love scary movies, until its time to go to bed & shut off all the lights.
